I got my blue/black belt!

I have been feeling kinda bummed out about karate classes lately. I seem to have lost interest, but my Mom said I still have to go. She says I am to close to quit and we don't quit.

So I tested last Tuesday for my blue/black belt. This means I am one belt away from becoming a black belt and I am only 10 year old. When I got there and saw the instructors I started to get scared. I was the only one testing in my level. Mom kept trying to get me to smile, but I was shaking to much and trying not to let anyone see it. I tried to hold my smile as long as I could. It was hard.

So then it was my turn to break wood. The last 3 kids before me did not break their wood. But I wanted to break wood, that is one of my favorite things to do.

I missed the first one, it was down to low. I did what is called a spinning wheel kick. Then I did a hand chop.

After I was done I felt relieved that it was over. I then got my belt. Mom and Dad had to take turns coming in because we cannot bring my brother Jon to testing. He can get loud and it would make the others mad. So Dad came for my written test and Mom came in for my real test. Here is a video of me breaking the wood.

I still feel kinda bad about going to karate, but I have to finish what I started even though I want to stop. Mom says that if I quit now and I decide one day to start over, I'll have to start over again. But once I am a black belt, I am always a black belt. So I guess I have to do what I have to do. She says I will understand one day and they both told me how proud they are of me.
